The family of a Spalding man who died from asbestos-related cancer are appealing for his colleagues to help provide information.
David Gibson died in July 2017 just a month after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, a type of cancer commonly associated with asbestos exposure.
His son Graham, also of Spalding, has instructed a specialist company of lawyers to investigate the circumstances which led to David’s exposure to the dust and fibres which caused the cancer.
He was employed as a batching foreman at several sites of a company working with cement and gravel. At least two of the huts he maintained were clad with asbestos sheeting.
“It absolutely devastated the whole family. It was so hard seeing his health deteriorate as quickly as it did,” said Graham.
His dad was married to Graham’s mum Pauline for 50 years.
Legal firm Irwin Mitchell has taken-up the case and is working on creating David’s full work history.
“We would be keen on hearing more regarding the conditions he would have worked in,” said solicitor Samantha Shaw.
“Any information could prove absolutely vital to our efforts to ensure that his family gain justice for his death,” she added.
The appeal has been issued to mark Workers’ Memorial Day on April 28 and information can be emailed to [email protected] or by phone on 0370 1500 100.
