A number of families in South Holland will be in new homes in time for Christmas thanks to the district council’s £1m purchase of them.
It’s bought eight affordable homes in Surfleet, a mixture of one, two, and three –bedroomed properties.
They have been allocated to households on the South Holland District Council Housing Register in accordance with the council’s Allocations Policy.
In addition to the eight rented homes, the council has acquired four additional houses in Surfleet, which will be offered for sale to residents on a shared ownership basis.
Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for strategic housing at South Holland District Council, says: “In addressing the pressing housing needs of our district, we take pride in providing not just homes, but a promise of quality and affordability. These new residences stand as a testament to our commitment to fostering a thriving community for all.”
Coun Tracey Carter, portfolio holder for communities and operational housing, said: “I’m extremely pleased to see that local families have been given the opportunity to be in new homes in time for Christmas.
“We celebrate the warmth of new homes and the spirit of community as families find affordable joy in their council-supported haven. I wish the new residents well.”
Shared ownership is a scheme where residents can part-buy and part-rent their homes. If you’re interested in a SHDC shared ownership property, please visit the Council’s webpage at Shared Ownership Homes – South Holland District Council (sholland.gov.uk)
