Eatery’s gift to local food bank

A popular fish and chip shop in Spalding has delivered a special Easter boost for a local food bank.

Westlode Fisheries in Westlode Street donated ten per cent of all of its takings on Good Friday and Easter Saturday to Agape Care.

The charity, set up as part of the Lighthouse Church, provides food parcels to some of the most vulnerable people in South Holland.

In total they raised £160. After speaking to the food bank they decided to help they spent the money on food to be handed out.

Owner Fardous Ali, said: “They were really pleased with the donation.

“I’ve never been to the food bank before.

“It was eye-opening and sometimes you realise how lucky you are.

“They really need donations.

“It’s great to be able to help out with something that’s going back out into the community and helping people who are struggling.”
