Dunn: ‘We’ve got what it takes to topple Moulton Harrox in derby’

Pinchbeck United player/boss Ian Dunn believes his side has what it takes to beat champions-elect Moulton Harrox at Glebe Field on Tuesday (6.30pm).

The current top two in ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division are both at the top of their game and nursing long unbeaten runs.

Pinchbeck have lost just once in the league since August. They beat Deeping Rangers Reserves 6-0 on Wednesday, with goals from Tony Edwards (4), Jamie Francis and Brad Murrell.

Moulton remain unbeaten in the league this season. Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat of Ketton put them a hair’s breadth away from clinching the title.

Top scorer Ollie Maltby netted twice to go with goals from Ashley Coddington, Ben Allen and Ian Bradbury.

Few times in recent history have Pinchbeck United and Moulton Harrox gone into the derby in such great form.

Dunn said: “We have got the confidence and ability to do it.

“It should be a really good game and will probably come down to who takes their chances and who makes the fewest mistakes.

“I certainly wouldn’t back against us.”

It will be Dave Panton’s second experience of the derby as a manager and he knows what it means.

“Pinchbeck v Moulton is always a crowd puller,” he said. “It should be a really good game – we are playing well and so are they.

“They’re very similar to Harrox last season in that they just had a shaky start. They’ve added a few new faces to their squad and I’m sure they are looking forward to it as much as we are.

“Ian’s obviously got them playing a certain way, which is proving great for them.”

The reverse fixture last August saw Moulton run out 4-1 winners. Joe Townsend (2), Bobby Patterson and Ainsley Johnson scored for the home side, with Liam Ogden getting Pinchbeck’s reply.
