Duck landing craft restoration project at The Anglia Motel

A World War Two amphibious landing craft is the latest addition to a permanent display at The Anglia Motel in Fleet.

Owner Harold Payne has bought the American DUKW (affectionally nicknamed “Duck” by serving soldiers of the time) and plans to restore it as part of his military museum dedicated to fallen heroes of past wars.

Harold’s aim is to get donations to enable the landing craft to be restored in time for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

He is hoping to take the craft back to Normandy as part of the celebrations in 2019.
