A Spalding man drunkenly crashed his partner’s car into a barrier following an argument, a court has heard.
Fabio Santos, 37, of Lilburn Drive, admitted driving with excess alcohol and without a full driving
licence or insurance, when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.
Prosecuting, Marie Stace said police attended a single vehicle collision in West Elloe Avenue at 1.20am
on November 20 where an Audi car had collided with a bollard and finished up partially on the kerb.
She said the car belonged to Santos’ partner.
Santos came to the scene and admitted he had been driving and had lost control of the car and was
arrested following a positive breath test, with a later reading showing 78 micrograms of alcohol in his
breath, the legal limit being 35.
Mitigating, Helen Coney said Santos had a provisional driving licence and there was insurance for him to
drive, but this had been invalidated because he did not have L plates on the car and he was not
accompanied by a supervising driver.
Santos was banned from driving for 20 months but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course
which will reduce the period of the ban by 20 weeks.
He was also fined £346 and ordered to pay a total of £223 in court costs and charges.
