Doubles for Lincoln Arms duo on Pinchbeck Darts League’s winter finals night

The Crowson VW Pinchbeck and District Winter Darts League season ended with a high quality finals night at Spalding Services Club.

Before a dart was thrown, however, MC Ian Tilley led a minute’s applause in memory of the league’s secretary Les Pell, who passed away two weeks earlier.

The first game of the night was the H & H Cup final between Division B winners Lincoln Arms C and Services Club C.

In a close game, it was Lincoln who ran out 4-3 winners thanks to wins from Steve Bright, Steve Doades and Dave Bourne.

Up next was the Fours final between Riverside and Green Dragon A.

Again, this one was a close battle with the Riverside team prevailing 3-2.

DOUBLE DELIGHT: Division A and Knockout Cup winners Lincoln Arms A. Back (from left) – Karl Rolfe, Steve Mosedale, John Charlton and Andy Bingham; front – Sam Roberts, Steve Stancer, Paul Blow and Mark Dixon.

Then came the Pairs semi-finals, with Tony Sewell and Steve Doades (Lincoln Arms C) playing Ash Allen and Brett Butler (Green Dragon A) and Ben Chester and Ady Smith (Riverside B) meeting Neil Levesley and Paul Faulkner (Royal Mail Cart A).

After two tough last four showdowns, it was Green Dragon duo Allen and Butler who would face Riverside’s Chester and Smith in the final.

Next came the Singles semi-finals, which saw Duggie McInerney (Green Dragon A) take on John Charlton (Lincoln Arms A), while Allen (Green Dragon A) was back to take on Steve Rawding (Riverside B).

In the end, both Green Dragon players progressed to the final, to be played later in the evening.

Then came the hotly-anticipated Knockout Cup final between Lincoln Arms A and Green Dragon A.

GOOD ARROW: Singles finalist Ash Allen (left) and winner Duggie McInerney, who threw three 180s.

This was a close affair, with Lincoln Arms winning 6-3 thanks to wins by Steve Stancer, Charlton and Paul

Blow, which secured them a league and cup double.

The first individual final of the night was the Ladies’ Cup competition between Lisa Brooks (Green Dragon A) and Stacey Banister (Lincoln Arms D). Here, Banister clinched the crown by winning 2-0.

This was followed by the Captain’s final, as Stancer (Lincoln Arms A) and Dan Gent (Lincoln Arms D) did battle.
In the end it was ‘A’ team skipper Stancer beating his pub counterpart 2-1.

The Mixed Pairs final saw Butler and Michelle Bourne from Green Dragon A take on Lincoln Arms D duo Gent and Banister.

In a close clash, Gent and Banister got the job done by a 2-1 scoreline.

The Pairs final was the penultimate contest of the evening, with Chester and Smith returning to face Allen and Butler after both negotiated semi-finals earlier on. The Green Dragon A pairing ran out winners 2-0 in that one.

GIRL POWER: Ladies’ Cup finalist Lisa Brookes (left) and champion Stacey Banister.

Allen was back for the last game of the night too, as he met Green Dragon A team-mate McInerney in the Singles final.

In a high scoring game, it was McInerney who took the trophy with a 3-0 victory that included three 180 maximums.

The league thank Tilley for all of his help throughout the night and Spalding Services Club for their hospitality.

  • The Hereward Sports Pinchbeck and District Summer Darts League is already up and running.
