Donington win big to hold on at the top of Division One

A 6-0 win has kept Donington C at the top of Division One in the Spalding and District Snooker League.

They whitewashed Holbeach C to widen the gap between them and second-placed Services A to four points.
The winning team was Mat Turner (O14), Mick Pearl (O21), Neil Reynolds (O63), Shaun Pickering (R21) and Ben Wrigglesworth (O35).
Services A are still chasing though, beating Consti G 5-1.
Wins came from Vince Fitter (O35), Chris Dunmore (O35), Jake Haslam (O21) and Martin Spencer (O28), while Mark Woodberry (O56) got the point for Consti.
It was their second 5-1 win in a week, having beaten Bourne SC B in a rearranged the Tuesday before.
Mid-table Pyramid C chalked up a good 5-1 win over Bourne SC A, who are third.
Ian Gibson (scr) won the first frame, giving Bourne their only point.
Winners for Pyramid were Spencer Dawkins (O56), Richard Skellett (O14), Jason Green (O63) and Carl Kelham (R7).
Lowly Sutton Bridge got their sixth win of the season, beating Consti H.
Wayne Howard (O14), Tom Horspool (O35) and Shane Balding (O49), who got a 34 clearance, were the victors for Bridge.
Holbeach D got the better of Services C thanks to wins from Denis Hix (R7), Andy Spearman (R7) and Ian Woodberry (O7).
Shane Cummins (O14) and Kevin Fitter (O14) got the points for Services.
Consti E have dropped a place to fifth after losing 4-2 to Boundary.
Pete King (R7), Tim Burrows (R21) and Steve Smith (R14) were the winners for Boundary.
It’s as you were at the top of Division Two, with the top six teams holding their positions.
Leaders Pyramid D had a 4-2 win over Holbeach B.
Pete Mullane (O28) won the first frame for Holbeach, before James Sharpe (O49) hit back for Pyramid, getting a 35 clearance in his win over Adi Liquorish (R14).
Josh Agger (O14) put Pyramid ahead, before Peter Sharpe-Grose (scr) pipped Charlie Mullane (R21) by one point to take the fourth frame and the match.
Neil Harvey (O14) won the final frame to give Holbeach a second point.
Consti B are still second, thanks to a 4-2 win over Services D.
John Christian (R7), Martin Fear (O7) and Mick Johnson (O28) took the first three frames to secure the win for Consti.
Ian Smith (scr) and Russ Morse (O7) got the points for Services.
Pyramid A beat Whittlesey C 4-2.
Victor Rouse (R7) got Pyramid off to a good start with a conclusive win over Neil Burton (O14) 68-9, before Paul Cook (O14) answered back for Whittlesey, beating Michael Twell (R7).
Garry Thewliss (O7) put Whittlesey ahead with a win over John Twell (O7) but they couldn’t hold on, as Norman Vaughan (O21) and John Twell (O7) took the final two frames and the match.
Holbeach A are holding on to fourth place despite being beaten 4-2 by fourth-from-bottom Gosberton A.
Andy Adair (R7), Carl Wand (O7) and Alan Jackson (scr) were the winners for Gosberton.
Gosberton D clocked up their seventh win of the season, beating Pyramid B 4-2.
Although still bottom of the table, Donington B now sit just one point above them.
Winners for Gosberton were James Parrott (scr), Dan Hanger (R7) and Kevin Lungley (O14).
Consti F pulled off a good 5-1 win over Donington B.
Brothers Darren (R28) and Justyn Stanley (R14) both won their frames, although dad Martyn (R14) couldn’t do enough to win his match against Paul Stewart (scr).
Bryan Turnell (R14) and Warren Peele (scr) were Consti’s other winners.
Services B lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a 5-1 win over Donington A.
Winners were Jason Rose (O28), Paul Doades (O7), Jeff Collins (R14) and Andy Neal (R7).
Jim Thompson (O7) took the final frame to snatch a point for Donington.
Division Three leaders Holbeach F didn’t play on Thursday, giving second-placed Consti I a chance to close the gap but they didn’t take it.
They went down 5-1 to Donington D thanks to wins from Geoff Harris (R28), Paul Whyte (R14), Alan Stanley (R14) and Dennis Mitchum (R14).
Jonathan Smith (R21) got the solitary point for Consti.
Third-placed Consti J beat Whittlesey A 4-2.
Adam Braybrook (scr), Les Andrew (scr) and Jack Howard (R7) took the first three frames to give Consti the win, before Steve Jennings (O28) and Jason Clarke (O7) took the final two, grabbing some consolation points.
Pyramid E saw off Consti D 5-1, thanks to wins from Neil Maclean (R7), Stephen Thompson (R14), Jeremy Radford (R7) and Adrian Sharpe (O28).
Consti A beat Gosberton B 4-2.
Winners were Paul Kent (R21), Wayne Wilding (O21) and Martyn Johnson (R14).
