Donation for Spalding dog rescue centre

Central German Shepherd Rescue in Spalding has received a donation of £5,000 from pet insurance provider Animal Friends.

Animal Friends Managing Director, Westley Pearson said: “Animal Friends Pet Insurance is extremely pleased to be able to donate to such a worthwhile cause as Central German Shepherd Rescue, which does such amazing work in promoting humane behaviour towards animals by rescuing German Shepherd (and cross-breed German Shepherd) dogs and puppies.

“Their efforts in providing care, treatment and re-homing when appropriate for those unwanted, neglected or in need (due to sickness, poor treatment or ill-usage) is something that we wholeheartedly support.”

Central German Shepherd Rescue rehomes and rescues unwanted and neglected German Shepherd dogs and puppies and also educates on the pitfalls of backyard breeders, puppy farms and “free to a good home” adverts.

Bev Chamberlain, of CGSR said: “We are extremely grateful for the donation, as all our dogs are health checked, vaccinated, flead, wormed and micro-chipped.

“Our volunteers spend hours working with the dogs to socialise them, train them and ensure they have basic manners before going to new homes.

“We also have Forever Fosters, dogs that are not able to be adopted, but still enjoy a full, happy life with their foster carers. CGSR funds veterinary fees for life of these dogs, plus provides hydrotherapy if required”.
