Star man Declan Earth got his third straight man of the match award – on the same night as collecting last season’s Division One player of the season award – as his Pro Ballers side smashed their way to a 6-1 win in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League.
It was another fantastic evening of football at Surfleet’s Glen Park on Monday, which saw only Tekkers keep their 100 per cent record alive in the top tier.
In Division Two, BK’s Athletic dropped at the third hurdle to keep just Puyol Pants Down and Sarah’s Boys flawless after three games.
The top tier got under way with struggling Division Two champions Simple FC suffering a heavy 7-3 defeat at the hands of a rampant You’ve Got No Fans. An unusually disorganised Simple side struggled with the pace, ability and overall talent of YGNF, who bagged their first win of the campaign.
Evolution, meanwhile, have started life in Division One quite well. They remain unbeaten after three games with their second successive draw.
This time they drew 1-1 with Old Boy Coaches in a game that saw Mark Laud get the man of the match (MOTM) nod.
Polishborough, who were presented with their champions trophies and medals prior to their match, then crushed whipping boys Mirror Signal Malouda 7-0.
The champions have bounced back well from their opening day defeat, with Krzysiek Goldyn named MOTM in this one.
It was then time for Earth, the reigning player of the season, to strut his stuff with another top performance.
This time he helped propel his Pro Ballers side to a 6-1 win over the previously in-form Notinmymums Forest in a stop-start affair.
The next game saw Univeg Team continue their poor start to the campaign with a 5-1 loss against table-topping Tekkers.
Marcus Parry stepped up to the plate with a MOTM performance as they maintained their 100 per cent start.
A thoroughly entertaining game rounded off Division One, as The Squad beat East Europa 2-1.
In fairness to The Squad, they performed fantastically well with quick pass-and-move attacking play and well organised and professional defensive action.
East Europa were under-par with missed passes and poor movement.
They were restricted to long shots – and were it not for some individual brilliance from Tomas Urbanavicius they would have failed to score.
The Squads’ Reagan Brown was MOTM.
In Division Two, Posh Old Boys made it two defeats in two – with six goals conceded and none scored – as they struggle to shake off their relegation woes. This time they went down 2-0 to The TBME, who gratefully took to the chance to grab a win.
Posh keeper Simon Black was MOTM this time.
Game two saw the newly renamed Puyol Pants Down (formerly Goaldiggers) christen their new name with a 2-0 win over the previously unbeaten BK’s Athletic to remain top. This game saw Tyler Wright snatch MOTM in his usual deadly way.
Elsewhere, Dynamo Kiev dropped to bottom spot with their third straight defeat.
This week they went down 3-0 to Nibblesborough FC who gratefully wrapped up the points early on. Jordan Graham was MOTM – his first of the season.
Match four in the second tier saw newbies FC Barnicols record their first win by beating Balotellitubbies 2-1 in an exciting end-to-end game.
Neither side were able to dominate the early possession and it took a MOTM showing from Reece Parker to really separate the two sides.
The penultimate game in the second tier was another week, another win for Sarah’s Boys as they beat Tekkerslovakia 1-0. Tekkerslovakia’s style of play has always been built on a solid defence, and it showed here. They had great joy in snuffing out the attacking threat of Sarah’s Boys but couldn’t muster any chances of their own. Cameron Walker was MOTM in this game.
The final game of the night saw Mail Carters remain unbeaten after three matches as they drew with Bowlcut Wanderers FC 1-1.
The game was a tight affair that was as even as the scoreline, with neither side really doing enough to outclass their opposite numbers.
Chris Coulson was named MOTM in this close affair.
