Days run the night marathon

A father and daughter are to take on the London Marathon together, but with a dark twist.

Rather than join the thousands in the daylight, Lauren (37) and Victor Day (61) are doing the Flawed Hero London Marathon, which starts at midnight on the day of the normal race (Sunday, April 27).
Lauren, who is a teaching assistant at Tydd St Mary primary school, knows its organiser after running for the Whizz Kidz charity back in 2017.
She’s persuaded dad Victor to take on the challenge in the dark around Letchworth Garden City.
“Dad got into running in lockdown and said he’s wanted to do a marathon,” Lauren said. “When the organiser Phil rang to say would I do it I spoke to Dad and signed us both up.
“It’s something different and will be a challenge running through the night!
“Pancreatic cancer is London’s charity this year so everyone doing the Flawed Hero is raising money for them and the Flawed Hero movement.
“The aim is that the 200 of us doing it will raise £100,000!
“Training is going great. We did 15 miles last weekend. It’s going to be the fuelling and running through the night that’s going to be the hard part, as well as running 26 miles!”
You can donate to their cause via the Go Fund Me page Lauren & Victor’s Midnight Marathon.
