CSKA Emneth Reserves eventually progressed in the Spalding and District Sunday League’s John Chappell Shield after edging a tie with Gedney Hillbillies Orange that boasted 19 goals over two legs.
After a first leg that ended 5-5, CSKA won the tie 10-9 on aggregate after a 5-4 victory at the Elizabethan Centre on Sunday.
Joshua Burrows (2), Antonio Matos, Connor Ratcliffe and Bobby Wright netted the goals for the victors, while Lewis Taylor (2) and Harry Grigas (2) – who got a hat-trick in the first leg – replied for Orange.
CSKA will now face Nations United in the quarter-final, with the other ties seeing AFC Moulton Seas End host South Holland United, CSKA Emneth 1st welcoming Mulberry and Jubilee taking on Fishtoft.
Only one game took place in the league itself, with CSKA Emneth (1st) enjoying a huge 12-0 triumph over AFC Moulton Seas End.
Jake Miller and Oliver Williams both netted hat-tricks, while Luke Pearson (2), Aaron McKenna (2), Callum Fendley and Joe Reed rounded off the rout.
