Oddfellows are on song

A group of Oddfellows were full of hot air recently, and all in aid of charity.

The Nene and Welland branch of the Oddfellows Friendly Society Nene hosted the Oddfellows Brass Band concert at St John’s Church, Spalding, on October 2.

There were 74 people who enjoyed the evening of music from show tunes and hit songs from the past to classical interpretations.

All the proceeds from the evening will be added to the chairman’s charity fund for the year which this year is the Exotic Pet Refuge at Deeping St James.

A total of £503.50 was raised for the charity.

Andrew Spencer, social organiser for the branch, said: “We’d like to thank all those who supported the evening to raise such a fabulous amount and thank the vicar and wardens of St John’s for allowing us to use the wonderful setting of the church for the concert.”

Nene and Welland Oddfellows is a non-profit and mutual, with 555 plus local members who meet regularly for social and fundraising activities.
