Crushing Casuals defeat leaves Spalding RFC adrift at foot of the table

Spalding RFC are now six points adrift at the bottom of the Midlands Two East (North) table after losing their crunch clash at Nottingham Casuals 33-12.

Having upset Newark in their last outing, Town were hoping to make it back-to-back wins and move well away from the bottom by beating their fellow strugglers.

But Casuals, bottom at the start of play, cruised to a big win – leaving The Elephants very much adrift at the foot.

Results: Market Bosworth 20 Loughborough 33; Matlock 69 Kesteven 0; Melbourne 22 Coalville 7; Newark 31 Ashbourne 27; Nottingham Casuals 33 Spalding 12; Southwell 37 West Bridgford 13.
