Crowds go head over heels for free circus event

More than 1,000 people rolled up to Ayscoughfee Hall last week for a fantastic celebration of circus skills.

The South Holland Centre’s Family Circus Day saw potential performers of the future get a chance to try a host of circus skills including juggling and plate spinning on Thursday, August 2.

It was held to mark the 250th anniversary of circuses in the UK.

The star attraction was the Motosikai circus stunt show performed by the Race Horse Company who had driven via ferry all the way from Finland for just one of three events they’re performing at in this country on tour.

Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities said: “We’re delighted that over 1,000 people came along to Ayscoughfee for the Family Circus Day last week.

The circus event turned Sebastian Hurn’s (6) world upside down.

“A lot of new skills were learned from aerial tricks to juggling and unicycling and it was a really unique opportunity to try something most people would never have thought of.

“A huge thank you to everyone who came along and those who organised the event, and a special thanks to the incredibly talented Motosikai, the Finnish stunt group who wowed the crowd with their two performances.

“We’d love to see you all again for our next exciting event at Ayscoughfee, the 1940s weekend on August 11 and 12.”
