Nick Crook and Danny Jackson both scored sensational centuries as Pinchbeck registered their first win of the South Lincs and Border League Division Two season in real style on Saturday.
A six-wicket haul from Haydn Roberts also helped set up what was a crushing 206-run victory over Grantham 4th on what was a top all-round performance from the hosts.
With conditions made for batting at Spalding Grammar School, openers Crook and Jackson certainly made hay while the sun shone.
The pair showed little mercy to the visitors’ young bowling attack with a devastating opening stand of 202 in 31 overs.
Jackson was the first to reach three figures – his second ton for the club – bringing up the milestone with his 14th boundary of the afternoon before being bowled for 105 to give Grantham a breakthrough.
This was quickly followed by the wicket of Glen Hammond, but the solid Crook marched on and – with a superb cover drive – brought up his maiden century in a third-wicket stand of 73 with Richard Riley (22 not out).
Crook was finally dismissed in the penultimate over, run out for a brilliant 118, as the home side closed their innings on 283-3.
In reply, any chance Grantham had with the bat was stifled by early wickets as opening bowlers Roberts and James Langford backed up the batting display with some tidy bowling.
Roberts struck in each of his first two overs and Pinchbeck never looked back – with only three batsman reaching double figures as the visitors were bowled out for 77.
Roberts rounded off a fine day by notching up figures of 6-36, including a brilliant diving catch off his own bowling to give him his fifth wicket.
Langford picked up his first wickets of the season with 3-35, with the innings wrapped up inside 24 overs.
Pinchbeck, who are fourth in the embryonic Division Two table, now turn their thoughts to the SLBL Cup and a Division D date at Division One side Skegness 2nd on Saturday (1.30pm).
