Council partners find £42m to save

South Holland District Council has secured the least amount of funding of the three authorities in the South and East Lincolnshire Partnership since March.

But overall the joint working with Boston Borough and East Lindsey District Councils has identified £42m of savings over ten years.
“Additional efficiencies for future years will be added as they are identified through matters such as contract reviews and service reviews,” the report says.
A report outlining performance of the partnership goes before South Holland’s full council next week.
It shows that 74 per cent of the 122 activities in the plan this year are complete or on plan.
“A key element of the plan is securing external funding,” the report says.
The figures show that East Lindsey secured £94,795; Boston Borough £58,596 and South Holland a sum of £47,509.
A growth and prosperity plan has been supported across all three councils and has already seen the Future FEST 2024. The careers event brought together secondary schools and education providers and employers and businesses.
The plan also saw the establishment of the Spalding Town Board to facilitate funding opportunities.
“The £1.85m people and skills theme of UK Shared Prosperity is now under way with innovative projects delivering access to training, ranging from skills bootcamps for those with long term exclusion from the employment market,” the report says.
“New manufacturing space has been launched to market on the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone, in partnership with Stirlin Developments. UKSPF funding has supported the employment of a partnership manager for the FEZ,” the report says.
It also highlights the start of a pilot scheme, the Good Homes Alliance, which has a number of aims including providing advice and support to residents to help them maintain and improve their homes.
The initiative comes from the South and East Lincolnshire Partnership Healthy Living Board which has also ensured the councils are now part of the Age Friendly Communities network.
“This work has been strengthened by East Lindsey District Council’s strategic partnership with the national Centre of Ageing Better,” the report says.
It also adds that the board is overseeing cost of living support and ‘plays a key role’ in financial inclusion.
The report is a six monthly update on how the partnership, created three years ago this week, is operating.
