Council get permission for beacon

A parish council has been granted retrospective planning permission for the beacon it erected to mark the Coronation.

Weston Parish Council put up the beacon ahead of the Coronation last May.
Last week South Holland District Council allowed them to continue to site it there.
The report by planning officers states the application was passed as it was ‘appropriate’.
Chairman of the parish council Chris Dilks said: “The parish council had submitted its application in advance of the celebrations planned around the country.
“Clearly the erection came just after the application was seen by SHDC which they were fully aware of our intentions in order to meet the celebration weekend.”
