There was no inter-club sympathy for Consti H as they fell 5-1 at home to Spalding & District Snooker League leaders Consti E.
Sean Jeynes (o14), Ben Peppercorn (o14), James Kingston (o21) and Martin Ulyatt (o14) secured the points as the visitors pulled six points clear at the top of the Division One standings, with Peppercorn firing in a 22 break. Adam Mayman (o28) hit a 26 break in the solitary home success.
Services A were run close by Holbeach B, with the 4-2 win seeing them drop a point off the title pace. A close encounter opened with a pair of black-ball games, both going in favour of the hosts thanks to Jack Howard (scr) and Phil Spencer (o7). Chris Dunmore (o35) then fired in a 30 break to wrap up the result. However, Holbeach were in no mood to roll over and hit back with wins from Neil Harvey (021), including a 23 break, and Pete Mullane (o28).
Donington were the week’s other big away winners, seeing off Bourne SC 5-1 to move level in second place. Mark Gray (o98) hit breaks of 55, 27 and 25 in his opening frame black-ball game defeat with Mick Pearl (o28) making it 2-0 and then Ben Wrigglesworth hit a 49 break to decide the match. Carl Gibson (o28) pulled one back before Mat Turner (o21) rounded things off.
Pyramid D climbed off the bottom in convincing fashion with a 5-1 win against Consti G. Ryan Burton (scr) opened their account with James Sharpe (o49) grabbing a 49 break to make it 2-0. Neil Grant (scr) pulled one back before a respotted black was needed to separate Marcus Hamilton (o21) and Joe Garland (o7), with the home player prevailing
67-60. Peter Sharpe-Grose (r14) then hit a 22 on his way to beating Ady Sibley (o35), who scored a 32 break of his own.
Pyramid A surrendered a 2-1 lead on their way to a 4-2 defeat at Holbeach C, which dropped them into bottom spot in the table. Dan Ashton shot a 29 on his way to an opening frame win for the home side but Pyramid hit back with wins from Jim Benner (r14) and Michael Twell (scr). However, Mark Gregory had a 25 clearance and breaks of 25 and 20 to make it 2-2 before Paul Ashton (r14) won the deciding frame.
The evening’s other match ended with a 4-2 home victory for Holbeach D against Pyramid C.
Division Two leaders Boundary A were on a free week so Holbeach A took the opportunity to close the gap to six points, courtesy of a 4-2 win at Whittlesey C, in a reversed fixture. Wayne Dent (o49) won the opening black ball frame and Sean Swinburn (o56) and Derek Beba (r7) followed up to open a 3-0 lead before Simon Parker (o7) and Jason Bloomfield (o21) answered back for Whittlesey.
Victories in the opening three frames from Carl Wand (scr), Geoff Wand (r14) and Adam Twigg (o14) propelled Gosberton A up to third place with a 4-2 win against Holbeach F. James Quinton (o7) pulled one back and Alex Bourne (o21) hit breaks of 21 and 20 to double the Holbeach tally.
A shock result saw Consti I beat third-placed Services B 4-2. They remain seven points adrift at the bottom but wins from Jonathan Smith (r21), David Twelves (o14) and Richard Geddes (r28) will have lifted their spirits. Jeff Collins (r14) and Paul Doades (o7) had put the visitors 2-0 ahead.
Services D missed the chance to move into the top three after going down 4-2 at home to Pyramid E. Paul Spicer (o14) and Richard Neal (r21) won for the home side but Steve Thompson (r14), Jeremy Radford (scr) and Neil McLean (r7) secured the points.
The Consti derby went 4-2 in favour of the ‘visiting’ F team. Darren Stanley (r28), Martyn Stanley (r14) and Robert Adams (o7) were the away winners, with Mick Johnson (o28) and John Keeton (07) getting the B team points.
Holbeach E beat Donington A 4-2 thanks to wins from Chris Leary (o28), Robert Coaten (r21) and James Crampton (o7). John George (o7) and Tony Scully (o35) were the away victors.
Division Three leaders Gosberton D fell to a 4-2 defeat at Donington D, despite Neil Simmons (o14) and James Parrott (r7) having earned them a 2-1 lead. Pat Taylor (r21), Dan Sawby (scr) and Alan Stanley (r7) were the home winners.
Pyramid B narrowed the gap at the top to a single point with a 4-2 win against Whittlesey B, despite conceding the first frame to Pawel Skutela (r7) and falling 2-1 behind to Kay Skutela (r28). Carl Kelham (r7), Dennis Pearson (scr) and Darren Hibbins (scr) completed the comeback.
The bottom two in the table went head to head with Gosberton C closing the gap to a single point thanks to a 4-2 success at home to Consti A. Stuart Tamplin (r7) got them off to a winning start, with Mark Payne (o14) and Stuart Henderson (o7) wrapping up the points. Paul Kent (r14) and Nigel Steadman (scr) were the away scorers.
Whittlesey A moved to within two points of pole position after a 5-1 win against Gosberton B, who won the opening frame through Warren Driver (r14). Jason Clarke (o7), Graeme Sawyer (o14), Lance Clarke (r14) and Steve Jennings (o35) led the winning response.
Paul Spittlehouse (o49) secured breaks of 28 and 25 but was on the losing side for Boundary B at Consti D. Mick Goddard (scr) was the other away winner. Steve Moore (r14), Tom Digby (r7) and Geoff Ellingworth (r21) were the home success stories.
John Walker (scr), Dave Banister (o7) and Mark Craig (r21) propelled Consti C to a 4-2 win at Consti J. Adam Braybrook (scr) and Stew Davies (o14) were the home winners.
