Consti A punch way to glory

Consti A romped to a huge victory in Division One of the Spalding League, beating Punchbowl A 9-0.

They conceded only one leg all night with Stefan Adousi spoiling their unblemished record with a win against Jason Vines. Adousi also had a 100 checkout but that was topped by Consti A’s Chris Fidler who had a 103 checkout.
Consti E enjoyed a terrific comeback to beat Rose and Crown 5-4. Rose and Crown won all three pairs and it looked all over when Hank Watson beat Mick Atkin to go 4-0 up. However, the Consti team did not give up. Calum Ward beat Dan Carnell to pull one back and new signing Josh Ford saw off Gary Mace. Mark Dixon overcame Ian Lawson and when Jason Chilvers beat Adam Godfrey it was all square, leaving Dan Gent to secure victory with a 2-0 win against Mick Ebbage.
Another close encounter was between Tigers C and Lincoln Arms A. Lincoln A went 2-0 up in the pairs but Colin Hatter levelled the scores, beating Luke Rhodes who had two 180s during the match. Mark Horspool beat Karl Rolfe to turn the match the way of the Tigers. Dave Bourne then levelled for Lincoln. Both sides needed to win two of the last three games and it went the way of the Tigers with Ant Richardson and Duncan Hunt doing the necessary.
In Division Two, Green Dragon A got their second 6-3 victory in a row with success against Drayman’s B. Dragon went 3-0 up and then PDC player Scott Williams, who returned from getting into the last eight of the Players Championships finals at the weekend, beat Shane Thorpe 2-1 in the first singles.
Williams had a 129 checkout and a 17-dart leg in his victory. He also paired up with Simon Horton and had an 18-dart leg in the pairs. Horton sealed the game for Dragon by putting them 5-0 up. Three consolation wins for Dan Merrill, Sandy Sandison and Chris Howling made the scoreline look respectable but Dan Martin completed the 6-3 verdict for Dragon. Dragons Tim Hester and Finn Rodgers had 180s and Drayman’s Merrill had a 100 checkout, which was beaten by teammate Sandison’s 110.
Ye Old Abbey kept up winning ways and replicated what the Dragon did by going 5-0 up to secure victory against Tigers B. Craig and Dave Norbury won the first two singles games. Tyger Atkin, Richard Brooks, Phil Horspool and Mark Robinson won the next four games for the Tigers to end up 5-4. Abbey’s Scott Lawrence had a 180.
Mail Cart A inflicted a 7-2 defeat on struggling Ship Long Sutton. After going 2-1 up, Jacob Herd fired in a 180 to make it 3-1 to Mail Cart. Daz Lawes and Paul Faulkner won the next two games to take the match. Zach Chapman got a consolation win against Steve Rawding before Harry and Josh Faulkner finished off the night.
The top of the table clash in Division Three between Holbeach Services and Consti D saw Consti strike the first blow by going 2-1 up in the pairs. Unbeaten Chris Chamberlain won the first singles for the Services with a 180 and a 103 checkout. Three more singles wins in a row did the damage and got the victory thanks to wins from Mick Ocock, Stu Stephens and Dan Blakey. Colin Beckett and Ady Smith won the last two for Consti to make it 5-4 to Services.
Lincoln Arms B won a tight game against Punchbowl B. Punchbowl raced into a 2-1 lead but three singles wins in a row from Mark Mckay, Sharon Barnard and Lesley Chamberlain made the scoreline 4-2 to Lincoln.
Stu Adams got a game back but Vlad Fomkinas beat Ryan Munton to take the victory for the Lincoln. Jamie McHugh went on last and won for the Punchbowl and hit a 180.
