Buoyant skipper Phil Barnes wants his Long Sutton side to finish their South Lincs and Border League season with a flourish this weekend.
Division One champions Sutton round off their season with a home league game against Boston 3rd on Saturday (1pm), before taking on Skegness 2nd in the final of the SLBL Cup at Boston on Sunday (1pm).
Sutton haven’t lost a league game all season – and opener Barnes expects that confidence to carry over into Sunday’s final as they bid to complete a famous double.
Barnes said: “We’re going into the game full of confidence. We’re riding high after winning the league and only losing once all season.
“However, we have got quite a few regular players missing with the fixture being changed and moved to a Sunday.
“It’d be great if we could finish the season on a high and do a league and cup double.”
Sutton squad: Phil Barnes (captain), Rob Simpson, Barry Stanway, Adam Wright, Dan Oldfield, Rajan Sangha, Alex Canham, Jordan Keeble, Jamie Taylor, Stef Fox, Luke Barnes.
- The final day of the Lincs ECB Premier League season was a washout for Spalding Town as their game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
That meant Town, promoted the previous season as South Lincs and Border League Premier Division champions, finish the season 37 points adrift at the foot after managing four wins from 22 games.
They will be back in the SLBL next season.
That means that Spalding 2nd, currently bottom of the SLBL Premier Division, will be playing in Division One next season.
Their game at Bourne 2nd was abandoned with the hosts on 207-6.
In Division Two, Pinchbeck finish in third after their game with Belton Park 2nd was cancelled due to rain, while Long Sutton 2nd earned a walkover win over Grantham 4th.
