Charities help duo make memories

Two people have been given the activities trip of a lifetime in The Lake District thanks to the local Rotary club groups.

James Leverton and Harry Dobson were sent on the trip with the Calvert Trust charity thanks to the Rotary Clubs of South Holland and Spalding and the Welland.

Both clubs are part of Rotary District 1070 which took 22 adults with a range of disabilities on the Calvert Trust trip.

Among the activities they took part in were sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling and cycling.

A spokesman for the Rotary said: “It is heart-warming and humbling to see the delight on the face of a wheelchair bound student who has just abseiled down a rock face (complete with wheelchair) and the whole week is littered with such success stories.

“Both James and Harry, excelled in all the challenges they came across and both confirmed that they had thoroughly enjoyed every part of being away in the Lake District, surrounded by beautiful scenery

“James particularly enjoyed the horse-riding session and Harry excelled at hill walking.”
