Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee morning raised thousands of pounds for charity last week – and was a great way for people to get together and enjoy the finer things in life: coffee and cake.
The national event was embraced in South Holland, with libraries, shops, community centres and homes across the region hosting coffee mornings in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
In Pinchbeck, Lorna Webb opened her home to the public for a coffee morning.
Along with a team of helpers, Lorna served coffee with jam and cream scones, alongside stalls selling cakes, preserves, quiche, plants, flowers and vegetables.
Custom crackers company Simply Crackers also attended and donated a percentage of their sales to the cause.
The coffee morning raised £302.33.
Spalding Library was host to an array of cakes and treats baked by librarians.
The library’s Faye Childs said even librarians who weren’t working that day dropped by in the morning to deliver their home-baked cakes. Retired librarian Jane Reddin also attended to support the coffee morning, which raised a grand total of £180.25 for Macmillan.
In Holbeach, Caffé Aurora donated all money made in the morning to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Along with money donated outside to singer Jeff Woods as Pavanotti, who braved the morning rain to entertain passers by.
In total, the cafe raised £510 for charity.
