Bungalows are to be built on a former playing field in Crowland as permission was granted five years after it was first submitted.
Five chalet style homes look set for the former grounds of South View Primary School near Chapel Street and Stricklands Drive.
Part of the reason for the delay is that under planning laws any playing field lost is meant to be replaced.
For that reason Sport England initially objected to the planning application.
But its since withdrawn that application after agreeing that applicant Mr Graham Jones provide a financial contribution towards a multi-use games area at the new primary school in Crowland.
There were objections from 12 local residents and Crowland Parish Council.
A particular issue highlighted in those against the proposal was the access from Chapel Street.
Lincolnshire County Council’s Highways recognised that the throughway was ‘relatively narrow’ due to parked cars but also raised no objections as ‘there is no record of these highway constraints having caused collisions involving personal injury’ and objections had not been raised for a new residential development further south on the road.
Coun Bryan Alcock urged the county council to put double yellow lines along the road, while recognising it was not something South Holland District Council’s Planning Committee could ask for as it passed the application last week.
“If the Royal British Legion building is in use there’s cars parked along there and its’ very difficult coming out of Chapel Street due to a lack of visibility in both directions,” he told the meeting.
“Residents are already concerned.”
Concerns were also raised about drainage and waste, but planning officers told the meeting that they were happy the conditions set as part of the application would ensure acceptable measures would be put in place.
In total 13 councillors voted for the proposal with one voting against.
