Brilliant Barnett boys inspire Moulton Harrox victory with super century stand

Matt and Jack Barnett shared a stellar stand of 113 to fire Moulton Harrox to an impressive ten-wicket win at Timberland in the South Lincs and Border League Cup on Saturday.

The pair eased Harrox past their target of 109 in just 17 overs at Martin Road, with Matt (58no) top scoring and Jack (42no) falling just shy of a half-century.

Harrox needed just 30 overs to dismiss their hosts after skipper Martin Chapman won the toss and put them into bat.

Maxwell Cusack (4-33) and William Naylor (3-33) did much of the damage with the ball, while Matt Barnett (2-24) and Jack Barnett (1-13) took the other wickets on offer.

A 25 down the order from number seven Adam Gilbert was the best the hosts could muster.

In reply, the Barnett pairing made batting look easy as they clinched maximum points for their side.

  • Harrox were also on winning form on Sunday as they picked up an eight-wicket victory over rivals Spalding Town in Rutland League Division Six.

Having put Town into bat, Harrox ripped through their hosts at the Memorial Field and reduced them to 82 all out in 29.2 overs.

Only Ethan Lawrence (23), Chris Green (21) and Harry DeCamps (14) managed to reach double figures, with Joe Griffiths (4-24), Alin Carter (3-8) and Darren Hibbert (3-30) on fire for Moulton.

Only 14.3 overs were required by Harrox as they chased down their target with ease, with Joe Broomfield (31no), Vanraj Odedra (29) and Rob Sexton (18no) doing the damage.

The win sends Harrox third, with Spalding now in fifth spot.
