Bomb squad called to Pinchbeck

The bomb squad was called to Pinchbeck to attend an object found in a field.

Lincolnshire Police said on Facebook last week that a farmer found what he thought to be a hand grenade while digging his field on Parson Drove, West Pinchbeck at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, August 22.

A police spokesman said: “The area was isolated, there was no risk to anyone and we were on scene alongside the EOD (bomb disposal) who successfully removed the device.”

However, the police later issued a statement that said the object removed by EOD wasn’t an explosive device as first reported.

“It was more likely a piece of farm machinery that had been dug as the farmer worked his land.”
