Bliss and blisters for Minion Moonwalkers

Ten friends donned their Minion-themed bras and took part in the Moonwalk at the weekend – raising around £4,000.

Calling themselves Angels and Fighters, Amanda Stoffel, Tracy Yewman, Andrea Commander, Tracy Saville, Sarah Willoughby, Fritha Ansell, Sharon Brookes, Leonie Grewal, Reshma Patel and Gina Kennedy, who are all from Spalding and Bourne, got their trainers and decorated bras on and walked the 26.2 miles around London on Saturday night.

Despite some injuries along the way, the women powered through and were delighted to complete the challenge for the first – and last – time in eight hours and 38 minutes.

Leonie’s mum Rhona, who was on hand to offer “foot rubs, support and bacon sandwiches”, said: “Fritha hurt her hip but struggled on for the last six miles to complete the course.

“On Sunday everyone was feeling tired, sore and nursing blisters but delighted that they had done it.

“It’s been tough for them as the training is so time consuming. It’s hard to fit it in, especially around work and families.

“They’ve said they won’t do it again but one or two of them are thinking about volunteering to help out next year.

“The volunteers really spurred them on.

“We’re not exactly sure how much has been raised altogether but a rough estimate is about £4,000, which is fabulous.”
