Billiards round-up: Top two shocked in Spalding and District League whitewashes

Spalding and District Billiards League leaders Pyramid B were finally beaten on Monday night – and how.

They were whitewashed 7-0 by club mates Pyramid A, meaning their winning streak ends at four.

Frame wins from John Clapton (R90), Eric Wyer (R100) and John Twell (R50) saw the A side home, despite a fine 30 break from Martin O’Connor (R20).

Also 7-0 winners were Gosberton, who took maximum points against a Consti A side who began the evening in second.

Jamie Mumby (R90), Peter Waterfall (R110) and Malc Dennis (R110) all performed well to seal a great Gosberton win.

Elsewhere, Holbeach B enjoyed a 5-2 success over Crowland to move themselves up the table.

Neil Burton (R60) got Crowland off to a winning start, but Neil Harvey (R50) and Tony Blanchard (R50) – who made a 26 break – hit back to win it for Holbeach.

The closest game of the week saw Holbeach A collect a 4-3 success at Donington.

Ben Harding (R40) and James Glover (R90) won the first two frames for Holbeach, but Jim Thompson’s (R50) huge triumph in the finale earned Donington an extra point.

Thompson also made a 27 break, with team-mate Ben Wrigglesworth sinking a 26 in frame two.
