Cue master Rob Childs was at his scintillating best in the Spalding and District Billiards League on Monday night.
The Crowland star, who plays off a monstrous O270 handicap, made breaks of 92, 55, 41, 32, 29, 28 and an unfinished 21 as he overturned a deficit of 340 to beat Long Sutton’s Joe Garland (R70) 200-185.
The opening frame success inspired visitors Crowland to a 5-2 victory on the night as Allan Sharman (R70) edged out Mick Cooper (O190) in the final frame.
Cooper was also on strong form as he battled a big deficit, but breaks of 32 (twice) and 28 couldn’t stop him losing 200-171.
Elsewhere, Gosberton A enjoyed an impressive maximum 7-0 win at Pyramid B.
Wins from Jamie Mumby (R80), Andy Shephard (R120) and Malc Dennis (R110) got the job done for them, despite a 20 break from Martin O’Connor (R20) for the Bourne side.
There was also a whitewash as Consti B humbled Pyramid A 7-0 on the Spalding baize.
Jason Rose (R40) made a superb 39 break as he won the opening frame, but the most impressive individual showing came in frame two.
Cue ace Mick Johnson (O170) reeled off scores of 58, 52, 35, 33, 30 and 25 (twice) as he edged past Eric Wyer (R90) 200-187.
It was much closer as Gosberton B edged past Holbeach A 4-3.
James Waterfall (R50) and Marcus Pell (O20) won frames for Gosberton, but James Glover’s (R80) big win for Holbeach earned them an extra point.
Waterfall (R50) and Ben Harding (R30) both made 26 breaks in that one.
Meanwhile, Donington beat Consti A 5-2. Nigel Brasier (R100) and Tony Scully (R60) were the winners for Donington, while Stewart Davies (R40) made a 29 break.
