Baptism of fire as BK’s Athletic Hardly break sweat to smash 22

A record breaking 22-0 win for Division Two side BK’s Athletic was the highlight of another top night of action in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night.

Once more football was the winner at Glen Park in Surfleet, as the top two in Division One continued with their title push, while all of the top three in the second tier managed to secure vital victories.

The biggest game of the top tier was first up, as leaders Polishborough looked to remain unbeaten against in-form Notinmymums Forest, who came into the match in third position.

The game was tight on paper, but in reality Polishborough enjoyed the greater prowess and ability as they strolled to a 4-1 win.

Simon Howard man-of-the-match (MOTM) in this game.

Pinchbeck United then piled more misery on Wet Dream Team with a convincing 3-1 win, despite the best efforts of MOTM Martin Sandall.

The result keeps both sides ninth and tenth respectively, but could provide a springboard for Pinchbeck as they look to secure a safe mid-table position.

Game three was a bit of a cracker, as Univeg Team overcame You’ve Got No Fans 5-3. Ricardo Silva got the nod for MOTM in a topsy-turvy game that saw two attack-minded sides look to break quickly.

Pro Ballers then continued their title push with a 2-0 victory against Posh Old Boys.

The Ballers always in control as they flexed their midfield muscles in another organised and professional display that saw Declan Earth pick up another MOTM prize.

The next fixture saw EPH Allstars fail to attend their fixture. Therefore, they have been fined one week’s match fee and given a 5-0 loss. Brennans Sports were grateful for the default win and the boost to their goal difference – and thanks to Evolution who stayed on to play Brennans in a points game.

Division One wrapped up for the night with Baltic United securing a 3-0 win against Old Boy Coaches in a result that felt slightly unfair.

Despite being on the losing side, Trevor Laud picked up MOTM in this game.

Meanwhile, Division Two got under way with new-boys Hardly Athletic given a baptism of fire against second-placed BK’s Athletic.

BK putting on an exhibition and strutted to a comfortable – and record-breaking – 22-0 win to welcome Hardly to the league. Jokingly, losing keeper Jordan Wakefield was nominated as MOTM.

The next clash saw Evolution secure a 4-0 win against Balotellitubbies. Although they enjoyed the greater threat in front of goal and did on the whole deserve the win, the scoreline was perhaps a tad harsh on Balo’, who enjoyed moments of brilliance.

Tomas Urbanavicius picking up MOTM for his impressive performance in front of goal for Evolution.

Leaders Simple FC then took on the in-form Le Saux Solid Crew and managed to grind out a 1-0 win that keeps them four-points clear of third-placed Evolution in the race for promotion.

Carl Jones impressed referee Matt Jackson enough to get the nomination for MOTM.

Game four saw Sarah’s Boys earn a very impressive 2-1 win against The TBME. Pure grit and determination helped see them to the victory, which lifts them over TBME and into fourth place.

Robbie Thurlow, who showed some fantastic attacking-play, got the nod as MOTM from official Tim Stoodley.

Goaldiggers and Tekkerslovakia then played out a fiery and hotly-contested affair, with the Tekkers lads having MOTM goalkeeper Jamie Wroniak to thank as they managed to grab a 4-1 win.

The win halts Tekkers’ poor form and sees them jump a spot to ninth place, while Goaldiggers stay seventh.

The last game saw Dynamo Kiev secure their second-straight win in a 3-2 victory against struggling Mail Carters.

The Kiev lads look to have a reinvigorated energy and vigour to their play and deserved the victory. Marcus Gilbertson was picked as MOTM, put the whole team put in a good shift.

Monday’s fixtures: Division One: 7pm – Pinchbeck Utd v Univeg; N Forest v EPH; 7.40pm – YGNF v Baltic Utd; 8.20pm – Wet DT v Polishboro’; Brennans v Posh OB; 9pm – OB Coaches v Pro Ballers.
