Bakkavor has been a major employer in South Holland for many years, Jan Whitbourn writes.
I’ve been speaking to Will Naylor, Senior HR Business Partner at Bakkavor Meals for Spalding and Sutton Bridge.
He said: “We at Bakkvor are a proud member of this community and continuously support local initiatives, projects and causes which are important to our people and make a positive difference to the area.
“We believe that where our communities thrive, our business thrives too.”
One of Bakkavor’s biggest fundraisers takes place annually at the Bakkavor Fun Weekend and Party in the Park at Springfields, Spalding, which is organised for employees, their families and members of public.
Bakkavor donates the funds raised from the event to groups and local charities.
Will said: “In addition to our charitable donations we encourage our people to be involved with their community and many Bakkavor colleagues are actively involved with local organisations, sports clubs and voluntary projects giving their own time outside of work.”
The Bakkavor Local Charity Champion Award is about recognising the great work that South Holland local charity organisations do to support their communities.
Bakkakvor knows from its own community engagement that there are many small charities that rely on volunteers and limited funds to carry out great work in the area.
As a company Bakkavor is committed to supporting these little-known local charities.
The criteria needed to enter the category is you must be a registered South Holland charity organisation (not a national charity) and the charity needs to describe its objective and how long it has been registered.
The charity also needs to tangibly demonstrate how it uses funds to support its local community.
The charity needs to describe how it fund raises and the number of people that are involved in running the charity (volunteers/paid employees).
Tell us about the charity’s needs and describe its long-term goal.
