Awesome 81 break from Atkin

Holbeach’s Stuart Atkin knocked in an awesome 81 break in Division Two of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night.

Atkin (o49) was eyeing up a 103 clearance but just missed the brown during his win over Gosberton D’s Paulo Gensiorskyj (scr).

His break supersedes team mate Sean Swinburn’s 66 as the highest in the league so far this season.
It wasn’t enough to help his team to victory though as Holbeach A went down 4-2 at home.

Gosberton’s winners were James Parrott (scr) and Keith Lungley (o28) twice, while Andy Taylor (scr) got the other point for Holbeach.

Elsewhere in the division, Holbeach B are sitting in first place. They got a 4-2 win over Donington A, thanks to victories from Barry Haynes (o21), Pete Mullane (o21) and Charlie Mullane (r28).

Wins from Victor Rouse (r7), Jim Benner (scr), Norman Vaughan (o21) and John Twell (o7) saw Pyramid A to a 5-1 success away to Whittlesey A.

Andy Blythe (o14) got the lone point for Whittlesey.

Third-placed Consti F went down 4-2 at home to Pyramid B.

Pyramid took the first two frames courtesy of Phil Cooke (r7) and Gary Cooke (r7), before Consti’s Bryan Turnell (r7) and Justyn Stanley (scr) levelled the score.

The decider saw Darren Stanley (r28) take on Roy Jackson (r14) with the latter walking away the winner.

Services B got a 4-2 win over Holbeach E in another match that went to a decider.

Jason Rose (o28) and Andy Neal (scr) got the first two for Services, before Carl Andrews (r7) and James Crampton (o21) hit back for Holbeach.

It was down to Alan Hansard (scr) to beat Chris O’Leary (o21) to give Services the win.

Whittlesey C got the better of Holbeach F, beating them 4-2.

Dan Mayfield (o21) and Susan Lefley (r28) got Holbeach off to a good start but it was downhill from there as Neil Burton (scr), Simon Parker (o7) and Jason Bloomfield (o28) took the final three frames to give Whittlesey the win.

There was another good break in Division One, as Spencer Dawkins (o63) claimed a 64 in his frame against Alan Day (r21).

It wasn’t enough to give Dawkins and his Pyramid C team the frame though as the Services D player pipped him by two points.

Services won 4-2 overall thanks to additional wins from Ian Smith (r7) and Russ Morse (scr).

Pyramid C are in second place, two points behind club mates Pyramid F who beat Services C 4-2.

Pete Hodgson-Kerry (o21) and brothers Carl (o28) and Ian Gibson (r7) were the winners for Pyramid.
Mark Gregory (o35) got the better of Mark Gray (o98), while Nick Edwards (r14) beat Oliver Player (o28) to give Holbeach two points.

Donington C beat Gosberton A 4-2, despite Gosberton going two frames up.
Paul Wright (o7) and Adam Twigg (o7) took the first two frames, before Ben Wrigglesworth (o28), Shaun Pickering (r7) and Mat Turner (o28) picked up the remaining points for Donington.

Pyramid D’s Marcus Hamilton (o35) got a 39 break in his victory over Geoff Hemsil (r21), of Services C.
Hamilton’s win helped his team to a 4-2 victory, with other wins coming from James Sharpe (o49) and Peter Sharpe-Grose (r7).

Father and son Kevin (o7) and Craig Fitter (o63) were winners for Services.

Boundary A got the better of Consti H, winning 4-2.

Elliott Cox (r7), Daniel Smith (o35) and John Tidswell (o21) got the wins in that one.

Smith knocked in breaks of 26, 23, 22cl and 20 during his frame.

Services A took on Holbeach D walking away 5-1 winners.

Martin Spencer (o28), Phil Spencer (o14), Chris Dunmore (o42) and Jake Haslam (o14) won the first four frames for Services, leaving Don Monk (o21) to pick up the lone point for Holbeach.

Looking at Division Three, leaders Holbeach G had a 4-2 home win over Consti D.

Winners for Holbeach were Stu Sullivan (o28), Matt Tomblin (o7) and Ian Woodberry (scr).

Second-placed Boundary B got a 4-2 win over Gosberton C thanks to Mick Goddard (o7) twice and Dougy Lythgoe (o14).

Malc Holmes (r14) and Stuart Tamplin (scr) got the points for Gosberton.

Consti I took on club mates Consti A, with the A team walking away with the spoils.

Louis Steadman (r14), Wayne Wilding (o14) and Paul Kent (r7) won the first three frames for the A team, before Phil Tweddell (scr) and Richard Geddes (r28) pulled two back for the I team.

There was another Consti battle when the C team took on the J team.

The C team came out 4-2 winners thanks to Terry George (r14), Mark Craig (r14) and Kevin Sweeney (r7).

Les Andrews (r7) and Adam Braybrook (o7) got the wins for the J team, who are bottom of the table with just five wins in 18 matches.

Consti B are in fifth place after a 4-2 win over Donington D.

Dan Sawdy (scr) beat John Christian (r7) to give Donington the lead, before Shelley George (r28) put Donington two to the good, beating Mick Johnson (o28).

John Keeton (o14) hit back for Consti taking the third frame from Geoff Harris (r28), before Martin Fear (o7) made it all square with a win over Pat Taylor (r14).

The match went to a decider between John Pike (r14) and Alan Stanley (r14) with Pike coming out on top.
