Arrest warrant drink-driver appears in court

A drink-driver who was the subject of an arrest warrant after failing to answer bail has been banned from the roads.

Kurt James Sands (47), of Wimberley Way, Pinchbeck, appeared before Boston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (May 9).

He had 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath after being stopped while driving a Peugeot 206 in Queen Street, Boston, on April 9. The legal limit is 35.

Sands pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was disqualified for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £40 costs and £30 to fund victim services. He can cut the ban by 13 weeks if he completes a £250 course by December 6.

Sands also pleaded guilty to having no insurance (fined £80 and driving record endorsed), driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence (no separate penalty, driving record endorsed) and failing to surrender to custody at Boston Magistrates’ Court on May 3 (no separate penalty).
