Spalding Cycling Club were back in action at the Fisherman’s ten-mile time trial course after a few weeks away due to resurfacing.
Despite the break, the name at the top stayed the same with Josh Wallis taking the win, this time followed home by Matt Ellis (SRCT).
The titanic season-long battle between Frazer Wallis, Neil Palmer and Chris Ward resumed too.
But, with Frazer Wallis absent, Ward took the bragging rights as he beat Palmer by 15 seconds.
With not many rounds left in the series, the championship remains wide open.
Behind them, a solid ride from the ever-improving Matt Chappell saw him beat Loz Staples (Velo One) by ten seconds, while a personal best (PB) of 24.52mins for Dan Warner closed the gap to Mark Hills ahead.
The battle of the youngsters went the way of Jacob Booth, who seems to really suit this course, leading home Joseph Townsend and Ethan Grundy.
- A packed weekend for Spalding CC kicked off with Hector Bramma stepping onto the podium to claim second in the under-8 Summer Monster Cross held by Bourne Wheelers.
Sunday was also a big one with Spalding hosting the much-coverted LRRA ten-mile TT championship on the Barrier Bank course. Organised by Barry Drew and Sarah Palmer, the event was a fantastic success.
Ellis, again representing SRCT, was the winner as he took home his first big open TT victory in a time of 21.18mins.
Fastest Spalding rider home went to Frazer Wallis (21.58mins) for fifth place overall and beating home his club rivals Ward (22.25mins) and Palmer (22.34mins).
Andy Bowser was the other rider to crack the top ten, following Palmer home in ninth.
- Bourne played host to the final round of the Heraward League last Wednesday.
It was winner takes all between Palmer and Ward – and on the night it was Ward who took home the victory and the overall crown in a time of 22.33mins – pipping Palmer by three seconds.
Official results are yet to be published, but Chappell also finished with a fine second overall in the series.
