Golf round-up: Kay on impressive form over 27 holes to win Spalding Golf Club’s Mary Hendry Cup

Spalding Golf Club’s tough 27-hole Mary Hendry Cup had 24 entrants and was won in impressive style by Kay Green.

The ladies’ section ace finished on -2 with scores of 75 for the first 18 holes and 36 for the last nine holes.
Jean Wilkinson finished as runner-up on +1, followed by Sue Matthews in third +2.

  • The Measures Vase, which is a drawn Stableford competition, saw 39 ladies take to the Surfleet coruse on one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Ronnie Thorogood was on the best form scoring 39 points to take the victory.

Second place went to Maureen Orwell, just ahead of Leanne McCanaan after both scored 38 points.

  • Helena Steward was the victor of Spalding ladies’ Sunday Medal with a score of nett 74.
  • The Ping 4 Ball Better Ball event was won by the pairing of Anita Cross and Orwell with 43 points, seeing off 21 other pairings.
  • The Coronation Cup, another drawn Stableford, was won by Wilkinson with a great score 38 points.

Orwell was second with 34 points.
