Another trophy to be lifted

Sporting heroes, volunteers and teams are being sought as part of efforts to recognise outstanding achievement and contribution to the community in Spalding and South Holland.

It’s part of the annual 2024 Pride of South Holland Awards held at the South Holland Centre on Sunday, June 23.
South Holland district councillor Paul Redgate sponsors the award.
He is a huge sports fan and wants to continue to highlight the work of individuals or teams in our community who have achieved excellence or give so much to the community.
“Our local sport teams and organisations are so important to our community,” Coun Redgate said. “Not only do they provide opportunities for all ages but they are representing our area and putting us on the sporting map.”
Pride Awards organiser Jan Whitbourn said: ‘I am very grateful to Coun Redgate for supporting this category.
“We have so many great teams and individual athletes in South Holland.
“By promoting those teams and athletes, hopefully we can raise their profile encourage local companies to back them towards success.”
The winner of the award last year was Long Sutton Athletic FC for their work in the community.
Jan said: “A wonderful person who thinks a lot about the team wanted to nominate them.
“Ian Billinghurst was also surprised but delighted to pick up the award.”.
To nominate someone for this or any of the other Pride of South Holland Awards, please send as much information as possible, ideally a minimum of one side of A4 to [email protected]
