Anita’s win accompanied by handicap cut

Anita Cross’s handicap was cut by one shot to 17 after winning Spalding Gold Club Ladies’ Mary Hendry competition.

The 27-hole strokeplay event had 31 entrants. The course – in excellent condition with fast greens – proved very tricky and the competition standard scratch went out to 77. Of those starting out, 19 completed the full 27.

Cross won with a net 114, 74 for the first 18 holes. Second was Paula Brown on count back from Jean White (both 119).
