Amazing figures of 8-9 for Spalding Town bowler Chris Green in Sunday success

Chris Green recorded amazing bowling figures of 8-9 in Spalding Town’s 48-run win over Ufford Park 2nd in Rutland League Division Six on Sunday.

Green’s figures are believed to be amongst the best-ever recorded in the Rutland League and are certainly the best posted by any Spalding player.

The 22-year-old needed just 6.2 overs to rip through the Ufford batting line-up, as he helped Town pull off the most unlikely of wins.

Put into bat by their hosts, Spalding were bowled out for a meagre 86.

Jordan Butcher (28), Ben Edwards (21), Green (11) and Jon Manton (10) were the only four Spalding players to manage double figures in an innings that lasted 35.3 overs.

Morgen Turner (4-20) was chief tormentor with the ball, but his figures were blown away by Green.

Three of his wickets were clean bowled, while both of the Ufford openers were trapped LBW. Richard Gilbert (1-4) and Alex Want (1-22) were the other Town wicket-takers as the hosts could only muster 38 in 12.2 overs.

Spalding’s second win of the season sees them go fifth in the table.

Sunday’s Rutland League fixtures (1.30pm)
