Sunday saw the final two races in the personal handicap pursuit series at Welland Yacht Club – and once again it was a brilliant day for younger sailors.
With different winners in the first four races, and the best four results counting, the series could have been won by any number of sailors.
Young gun Emma Agar won both races, which is testament to the club’s commitment to training the junior sector to be able to compete on equal terms with the adults.
Both races had some close racing. Race five saw Tom Bell challenging for position with Will Cook and crew Emma Hill, with Bell eventually prevailing for an all-important points advantage.
Race six had Martin Cook duelling with Brian Cobb for third place, switching places three times.
Bell was the overall series winner ahead of Martin Cook and Shelley Woolridge.
