Ace batsman Newton wins big at Spalding Town’s end of season awards night

Run-machine Josh Newton was the big winner at Spalding Town Cricket Club’s end of season bash on Friday.

Newton, who scored 569 runs at an average of 63.22 over the season, played a key part in steering Town to the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division title and promotion back to the Lincs ECB Premier League.

Only team-mate, ex-Pakistan international Hafiz Majeed, scored more runs than Newton in the top tier last term (730).

Newton was named first team player of the season and first team batsman of the year at the awards bash, with Cameron Roy taking the bowling honours.
