A Spa day to forget as Moulton Harrox make just 65

Moulton Harrox suffered a crushing 196-run defeat at high-flying Woodhall Spa 2nd in South Lincs and Border League Premier Division on Saturday.

Batting first at Jubilee Park, hosts Woodhall smashed 260-8 from their allotted overs.

Paul Timby (96) led the charge at the top of the innings, while Thomas Dixon (56) and Rob Bee (52) also passed 50.

On what was a tough day in the field, Henry Lavery (5-60) did at least star with the ball for Moulton. John Barnett (2-45) and Maxwell Cusack (1-51) were the other wicket takers.

In reply, Harrox were simply blown away by a Connor Parsons-inspired Woodhall attack.

Parsons took 7-30 to help remove the visitors for just 65 in 18.5 overs, with only Lavery (22) and Josh Rushby (12) making double figures.

Having collected four bonus points, Moulton remain bottom of the table.

Also heavily beaten in the Premier Division were Spalding 2nd, who suffered a 129-run home beating by Sleaford 2nd.

Phil Sneath (75), Sumit Puri (69) and Michael Shelley (38) all scored well as visitors Sleaford racked up 269-9 at the Memorial Field.

Ansar Hussain (3-35), Jon Manton (2-87), Julian Wilson (2-74) and Simon Juckes (1-24) got amongst the wickets for Town, but Sleaford’s total was a daunting one for them to chase down.

Always game for a run chase, Town did have some solid performances with the bat through Chris Dring (34), Rob Noble (28) and Manton (21).

But they were all out for 140 in the 40th over, with Giles Goddard (2-13) the pick of the bowlers.

Meanwhile, Long Sutton were handed a heavy reverse at Stamford.

The hosts made 152, with Sutton then all out for 95 – some 57 runs shy.
