It’s your last chance to get your nominations in for this year’s Pride of South Holland Awards.
Organiser Jan Whitbourn has decided that Monday (July 27) will be the final day to nominate the heroes you feel have made a big contribution to the local community.
Later next week the judges will come together to decide the winners.
The nominations for each category have excelled again this year and it is going to be a tough job to make the right decision.
The sponsors said messages of community cohesion, hard work of volunteers and the overwhelming importance of structured and entertaining activities in our districts have become stronger.
Jan said: “We, as a community, carry the responsibility of educating the next generation, not only academically as our fantastic schools do this, but in their social responsibility to the community in which they live, respect for authority and most importantly, team work.”
Coun Gary Taylor, who is one the event sponsors, said: “Here in South Holland we have people from all backgrounds who take part in activities in a large number of clubs, organisations and societies.
“We have an increasing number and diverse range of volunteers in all categories.
“We have compassionate and committed carers and charity workers.”
Gary feels the awards encourage these people and thank them for their hard work and dedication to the community.
Jan added: “We, as a district, need to honour and recognise the hours of tireless but rewarding voluntary efforts put into South Holland.
“They are the real heroes who often carry on with little recognition, especially now, when so many people in our community have been pulling together at this time.”
The shortlists will be complied and everyone will be notified in the coming weeks.
