A great result for Sutton 1st

Long Sutton 4 Cambs Uni 2nds 1

Long Sutton were pleased to include Josh Fyson for his first game of the season after injury and the recall of experienced defender Tom Baguley.
For 19 minutes Cambs dictated play but were thwarted by excellent defending.
Sutton then had a 20-minute purple patch using the quick through ball to devastating effect, firstly Josh Baker rounded the keeper to slot home, the Dan Batten raced into the circle and squared the ball to Mackenzie East who diving at full stretch guided the ball into the back of the net and another quick move enabled veteran Nick Ellis to calmly smack a loose ball into the goal.
Ten minutes into the second half Baker picked up a long ball and drew the keeper to score from a narrow angle to put the home team four up.
The visitors piled on the pressure forcing several short corners which found keeper James Cliff in great form saving everything thrown at him.
The defence, marshalled by the excellent Baguley, held out until on the final whistle when the visitors managed to squeeze a short corner over the line.
A great result for the home team.
