A different catch for anglers and volunteers

Volunteers of all ages helped local anglers in getting litter out of the River Welland on Sunday.

With the river levels being so low, the Peterborough and District Angling Association decided to take advantage.
And they were joined by members of the Wombles of Spalding Common who have already cleared up some parts of the river.
Rob Harris, from the association, said: “It was great to work together with The Wombles of Spalding Common to litter pick the River Welland.
“There was plenty of rubbish collected despite it being regularly picked by our groups, which is disappointing. It was great to see such a good turnout and volunteers of every age involved.”
