A Spalding man has published his remarkable life story.
It Started With A Bang covers Terry Day’s memories from the past 71-years.
He spent seven years in the Royal Navy, joining as a chef aged 16, and then moved to become a fire officer, with 26 years at Spalding Fire Station.
The collection of stories include his time as a ‘dignitary assistant’ and later earning a Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Bronze Marine Medal after saving the life of a woman who was drowning.
“I was encouraged by another author, who said that I had done quite a bit with my life and that I should consider writing an autobiography,” said Terry, who lives on Priory Road. “Why should all your experiences die with you?
“It would make an ideal Christmas present for those stuck for ideas.”
The book is on sale at Lulu.com/shop and locally at Bookmark at The Crescent in Spalding.
