Chilly but good conditions greeted the riders on Tuesday for Spalding Cycling Club’s first ten-mile event of the season, following the previous week’s cancelled five-miler due to high winds.
New signing Dominic Righini-Brand backed up his five-mile form with victory in 21 mins 45 seconds on his TT machine. He was followed home by arguably the ride of the night from Spalding local Matt Ellis, riding for the West Midlands-based Thriva-SRCT elite development team, in 22:19 to take victory in the road bike class.
It was a close battle for third place with Josh Wallis pipping his dad Frazer by three seconds with Matt Chappell only five seconds further back.
Jacob Booth was the fastest local young gun with 25:25 and Evgeniya Righini-Brand took a convincing win in the women’s class with 26 flat.
