A Spalding wellbeing charity has added a new support group for people with autism and gained financial backing for its dementia care.
Tonic Health, The Health and Wellbeing Charity, has secured funding through Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust Autism Network Fund to enable it to continue their successful Autistic Led project.
Autistic Led is a group for autistic adults aged 18 and above and meets every Thursday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Tonic Health in Spalding.
It started in October 2018 and the membership has been growing steadily ever since.
A spokesman said: “This funding will not only allow the meeting group to continue but will enable Tonic Health to start a new woodwork group every Friday from 2pm to 5pm, starting March 6, and to deliver awareness sessions over the course of the coming year.”
If you are interested in joining either the meeting group or the woodwork group or would like any more information about this project contact Tonic Health on 01775 725059 or email [email protected]
More funding for services has come through Tonic Health’s new partnership with Broadgate Homes for its dementia support services.
Tonic Health provides a range of projects to support people with dementia, their carers and family members both in Spalding and Crowland.
Chair of Trustees for Tonic Health Michael Morris said: “Some of our projects are funded, but others rely on donations and support from others.
“Broadgate Homes’ support is invaluable in allowing us to keep doing what we do.”
Tonic Health dementia groups include the fortnightly FOCUS meetings at Tonic Health and Crowland on various days from 10am-4pm, providing a safe, fun environment for those with early stages of dementia, giving carers a well deserved day to themselves.
Crowland Dementia Cafe runs every Thursday 10am-noon at Snowden Pavilion for those living with dementia and their carers.
Movement 4 Memory is a weekly meeting group held on a Wednesday 1.30pm-3.30pm at Tonic Health for those living with dementia and their carers.
Reminiscence TV and Film Club is a relaxing afternoon meeting on the first and third Friday of each month at Tonic Health from 1.30pm for those living with dementia and their carers.
Pottery Classes are held at Greenfield Farm in Holbeach on the third Monday of the month for those caring for someone living with dementia, whilst the cared for are entertained at the nearby village hall.
