I Sloan (Voice, Feb 6) says: “The modern isolationism of an America led by an unstable president, an increasing militant Russia and an emerging China with great territorial ambitions means that now is not the time when we should be breaking away from our closest friends and neighbours for reasons which are clouded, dubious and possibly corrupt.” I completely agree with his assessment.
Unfortunately, we are currently breaking away from our closest friends and neighbours for reasons that Brexiters will have to restate and re-explain. So the future must be considered.
I Sloan observes that there was “an article by Sir John Hayes in the Lincolnshire Free Press heavily laced with the jingoism one can nowadays associate with the Prime Minister. Amongst his purple prose he prays in aid of Christian teaching, I assume that is the Tory variety of the rich man in his castle etc.”
Like I Sloan, I’m so sorry that those least well-off in South Lincolnshire will be the people most adversely affected by Brexit.
I’ve already asked Sir John Hayes (and his six fellow Conservative MPs in Lincolnshire) to state publicly what benefits they’re now committed to deliver for the benefit of the people of Lincolnshire over the next five years.
So, we just need to wait a while to see how Sir John Hayes and his six fellow Conservative MPs in Lincolnshire choose to respond.
