A Spalding man found driving with more than three times the permitted level of cannabis in his bloodstream, has been fined and banned from driving.
Boston Magistrates heard that Alvaro Manuel Rio de Melo, 28, of Medlock Crescent, was stopped by police in Halmer Paddock, Spalding at 3am on August 18 last year after he was seen by police breaking the speed limit.
It was said he provided a drugs test showing he had 7.7 microgrammes of cannabis in his bloodstream, the legal limit being two.
He also admitted he had no insurance and was an unaccompanied provisional licence holder.
de Melo, who admitted the offences, told the magistrates he only used cannabis to ‘relieve stress’.
He was banned from driving for a year and fined a total of £460 and £117 in court costs and charges.
