Mary’s marvellous milestone with the Guides

A Moulton woman has been given a special award for her 40-years volunteering with the Guides.

Mary Lane first joined the movement in 1960 as a Guide herself.

She’s currently the Holbeach District Commissioner, leader of Holbeach Brownies and Guides, Holbeach Ranger Unit, South Holland Division depot manager and treasurer, assistant county GO coordinator and county badge secretary.

Her early guiding was in Kent and while living in London, Hertfordshire
and Cambridgeshire she’s continued to work with and run groups as well as taking on numerous administration roles.

Mary moved to Moulton in 2013, initially becoming Lincs South County Treasurer.

Claire Hemstock, Girl Guides County Trainer for the South Lincolnshire area, said: “This is an outstanding achievement and the dedication she has given to Girlguiding needs to be commended. She continues to volunteer her time to the local community and is always willing to help the other units in our district.”
